School of the Month: Boston University

Boston University is a large private research institution with a main campus located along the Charles River in Boston. BU has about 29,000 students and holds a strong presence in the heart of Boston. Boston University is part of the NCAA Division I Sports with “Rhett the Boston Terrier” as its mascot. Many students claim that one of the best things about Boston University is its large international student population, which brings a great variety of people and interests together. There are nearly 500 student organizations on campus, including unique clubs like the “film society,” “outing club,” and “zen society.” At Boston University there is something for everyone.

There are 23 varsity sports, 33 club sports, and 15 intramural sports. BU’s men’s hockey team has been especially successful. The undergraduate acceptance rate for 2013 was 49.4%. Academically, Boston University offers an extremely wide range of options, with more than 250 programs of study and over 90 study abroad programs in more than 20 countries.
